If you want to make money selling products online, another option, except the online store, would be eBay.
The registration is free, but after that, you will have to pay eBay some fees, of course.
There is a fee for insertion, which is the price that eBay charges for listing your item. Also, every time you sell a product you will be charged a final value fee.
Once you have created your eBay account, you will have a store on eBay's domain.
Tips to Become Successful with Your eBay Store Business
In order to become successful with your eBay store, I would recommend you the following:
- add high quality pictures of the products you want to sell (the best option would be a 1024 x 768 resolution)
- when you take pictures to your items, make sure you include only one item per picture (include 2 or more items in a picture only when you want to sell them together)
- add description with concrete details about your items
- try to get a positive feedback (make sure you answer all the questions you receive and establish a good communication relationship with your potential buyers)
- try to offer as many payment options as possible (some might want to pay through PayPal, some others with credit card or with check...)
- bring to your store as much traffic as you can (traffic is everything in online business!)
This last thing is quite hard to accomplish, as your eBay store won't get listed in search engines.
If you build a dependency on the traffic of eBay, it will be very hard for you to sell your items, because, even eBay has a lot of traffic, there are millions of stores who share this traffic.
As you may know, the best sources of traffic are Google, Yahoo, MSN. But, as I've told you before, they won't list a store created on a domain that is already listed in their directories.
So, as eBay.com is already listed, your store won't be listed anymore because it will be considered a duplicate.
The best thing you could do would be to create a website and place on it a link to your eBay store. This is because your other website will be added to search engine directories, as it will be created on its own domain, and so, you will get a lot more traffic to your store.
In order to do that, you will need to select a web hosting plan (the space and tools you need to create your website).
After that, try to write as much content as you can, so that you will be ranked higher in search engine results.
The best option would be to create a site on a topic related to the category of items you want to sell. For example, if you sell "fishing rods" and other "fishing-related products", build a site on "Fishing".
This way you will increase the chances to sell your products, as people who visit your website are interested in your topic, so they might be interested in that category of products.
After your site is ready, add it to the search engine directories. Then place a link to your eBay store on your website.
This way you will have your own website (with a link to your eBay store on it!), with endless possibilities to get a high rank in search engines and bring lots of traffic to it, besides the traffic that you will get from eBay.
So, the chances of selling your products will be much bigger.
